Toe fractures are common, and most simply need the toes to be taped together for the bone to heal. However, some toe fractures involve fragments that move away from the main bone, or involve the joint space. If these fractures heal out of position, the result could be a bone deformity that can lead to painful corns or even arthritis. Therefore, medical evaluation and x-rays are recommended for all toe fractures, no matter how minor they may seem.
