Thanksgiving Warrior

Often times we talk about the weekend warrior.  We see them as patients.  These are the people that don't really work-out during the week but hit it hard on the weekends.  Well, I propose another type of warrior...the Thanksgiving Warrior.  These are the people that don't exercise or work-out all year but then play a game of football or participate in a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.

Some of the most common injuries that we see post festivities are ankle sprains, ankle fractures, Achilles tendon tears/ruptures, stress fractures, plantar fasciitis, and tendinitis.

Word of advice, warm up before and stretch after.  It used to be thought that stretching prior to exercise was the most important time.  Research now shows that stretching after exercise is more important and performing a light warm-up prior is the safest way to prevent injury.  In addition, don't bite off more than you can chew!
