Arthritis and Your Feet

Do you have painful joints or a feeling of a dull ache across the top of your feet, big toe joint, or ankle and surrounding areas? Do your joints get swollen? Is it hard for you to be as active as you used to be? Does it hurt more on uneven terrain? You may be suffering from arthritis of your joints.

Most likely you have osteoarthritis which is chronic wear and tear of your joints. There are many conservative treatments to help your symptoms such as modified shoe gear, custom orthotics, custom ankle brace, NSAIDS, steroids, and steroid injections.  Ultimately if the pain persists after exhausting all conservative options then surgical consideration is warranted. Radiographs and at times CT scan are necessary to evaluate the joints involved and for proper surgical planning.
